Roche Harbor

Before dawn on Saturday, May 26th it was time to leave Seattle and start heading north. Taking the most direct route through Admiralty Inlet and the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Roche Harbor meant we had to catch the outgoing tide which was forecasted to peak at 7am near Pt. Townsend where Admiralty Inlet meets the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The wind was blowing nicely from the south west and with the help of the tidal current we hit top speeds of about 11kts over ground. After a somewhat rough crossing of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and a nice sail up Haro Strait we arrived in Roche Harbor at 2pm. We are staying here for a few days to attend a wedding on Monday. Next Mark will come aboard and Stephanie will fly back to Seattle before we clear customs into Canada and meet up with 2 friends from Germany.
