This weeks project was the resealing of the port and starboard windows. They had been leaking since I purchased the boat. The main problem with the design is that the deck flexes under force while sailing and if the sealant is not flexible enough it opens up gaps. Getting out the old window turned out to be fairly easy. After applying some softener it popped right out. Underneath there was moss growing and a ton of dried out, cracked 30- year old sealant. After getting the window out we cleaned it from the old silicone and painted the inside edges that overlap the frame black. Makes it look better from outside and prevents sunlight from directly hitting the new silicone.Cleaning the old sealant off the frame was more painful.. Finally using SCS2000 Silpruf capability sealed the window back into the deck. Silpruf promises +/-50% movement capability and UV stablity forever...
Good job
